Throne position has several specific elements that we reviewed, but the general theme is that’s an ideal balance of being both athletic and relaxed. It needs to be a position that you can hold comfortably for an extended period of time, and from which you can derive powerful movements.
To practice this, stand with staggered feet like you would on a bike; one in front and one in back. Imagine you’re a boxer in a boxing ring. Spring up and down lightly like you’re ready to throw a powerful punch.
If the boxer was tense through their muscles, they wouldn’t be as powerful, or be able to move or react as quickly. Similarly on the bike, we need to be in the taller and relaxed standing posture so our bodies can move and adapt to the terrain.
